A Bible Timeline Chart Offers A Creative Approach To Convey Bible Characters And Events And Truths

Alas, a large number of preachers and Bible teachers in our churches go on and preach flimsy, shallow, superficial, light weight sermons and their Church members barely grow in biblical knowledge and understanding. Preachers love to give us'moral essays' and'warming affirmations' because supposedly, if we truly love people this is what we'll do. Too bad it seems, if God's men and women are falling through the cracks'for a lack of knowledge' as long as we are positive and loving to all. Truly, the more relevant we become to our world, the less relevant we are to our world.
Some time ago, I was speaking on the resurrection, burial, death and life of Jesus, and a retired pastor and strong preacher of Scripture, who had been a pastor for 40 years, came up and reproved me vigorously over some interesting points I made and he noted 1Ti 1:4'Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.' I quietly asked him if I had been teaching anything of a heretical nature at all, to which he replied"No". I continued to explain that in the case of that particular verse, it was not referring to exploring Scripture but to the false teaching and philosophy of the Gnostics, but he would not have it. Let me ask, how can a 40 year preacher & laborer in the Gospel, not know and understand about something that possibly 1/2 the books of the New Testament relate to?
How could he understand and preach the Bible clearly without knowing about something that was so influential in the New Testament church? And then how can the congregation hope to comprehend these things and be in a position to interpret their Bible properly, if they are not told?
Let's us as tutors and preachers stitch together the fragments of the Bible and His plan into a logical whole that our people are able to draw on for the rest of life, helping them to comprehend God, His Eternal Plan, the role of the Church and ways to better translate the Bible to live by.
It's not hard to do, and it's not boring if we are prepared to put in a bit of study with prayer and fervor, and just possibly you can employ a Bible Timeline also.
